Well,if it became your D:drive, your computer MUST see it!What did you have the D drive assigned to before? Are you using XP?

before i installed it i had my cd burner at the E: drive and my D: was my regular cd player. I took out my cd burner and put in my dvd burner. Now my dvd burner is the d:drive

So the drive is D:?? Then windows has already recognised it. I fail to see what the problem is??

Perhaps you mean that windows is not recognising your CDRom which you didn't even mention in your original question??

No what i mean is that my writer and my reader got switched. The reader WAS D: and now it is E:drive and the writer was E: and now is D:

are you sure that your drives are jumpered correctly? the main drive is MASTER and the secondary drive is SLAVE? that will make your OS assign the drive letters..

Just change the drive letters back then. In Win ME you can just go into their properties and change them. Reset and the drives will be changed back.

I suspect that the Sony is master, that is why it got the first drive letter.

most of the newer DVD burner's are coming jumpered with the drive set as master by default.
