After installing easy CD and uninstalling nero, I found that easy CD would not burn. Now after uninstalling easy CD, nero will not fully install and shows, Internal error 2889. License agreement memo. I have given other programs a go but even if they install they will not burn.
I JUST WANT TO GET BACK TO USING NERO, HELP PLEASE.

A couple of things probably need fixing

a) Your ASPI Layer, uninstalling EasyCD can either remove or corrupt the ASPI so if you are on Win2K read this (http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/yaa2.htm)
Otherwise get checkASPI & ForceASPI from Cyrus Troy's download page (http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/downloads.htm)

b) You may need to remove Nero from the system registry to allow a clean re-install.
Click on start -> run & type "regedit" (without the quotes)
backup your current registry settings.
Search for all occurances of Nero or Ahead and remove them.
save & exit.
If you are not familiar with editing the registry then take care, don't remove or alter anything other than Nero & Ahead entries.

RegCleaner will help you remove all occurances of Nero or Ahead from your registry. It also has a backup option. Get it for free from here: http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/index.shtml

Hi M8 don't know what version of Easy CD youve got, but I found this for another Guy a while ago:

And here's the Adaptec recommended way to uninstall the programme fully from your PC, as you can read its not a full uninstall the uninstaller software does, may be some/all of the files it leaves behind are causing you problems M8 HTH you

Note*** This article applies to uninstalling/reinstalling Easy CD Creator 4 only, if you are using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, please refer to article # 010426-000000.

1. Click Start button and select “Setting”/”Control Panel” menu options.
2. Select the “Add/Remove programs icon.
3. Select and remove all Easy CD Creator programs and remove all shared files when prompted.
4. Click Start button and select Find (Search)/Files or Folders menu option.
5. Perform a search for the following files and rename the extensions to “.rox “if found. (example cdrtc.dll to cdrtc.rox.)

Cdrtc.dll Cdral.dll
Cdr4dll.dll
Cdr4vsd.vxd
Cdr4vsd.sys

6. Search for Adaptec files and folders and delete.

***Warning*** the next step involves editing your System Registry. We strongly recommend you export your registry before attempting any editing. Editing your registry incorrectly can cause irreparable system damage. We recommend that if you do not feel comfortable editing your registry that you skip this step.

7. Click Start button and select “Run” menu option.
8. Type “regedit” and click OK button.
9. Select Hkey_Local_Machine/software and remove any of the following keys:

a. Adaptec shared
b. CDR4VSD
c. Components
d. Direct CD
e. Easy CD Creator
f. SoundStream
g. SPG Master Setup
h. Take Two
i. Webcheckup

10. Exit the registry editor.
11. Perform system restart.
***Note*** if you are running Windows NT or 2000, login as ADMINISTRATOR, not just a user with administrative rights.
12. Make sure all programs are closed and all icons by the system clock are disabled.
13. Reinstall the software, using default install directory.
***NOTE*** Windows ME requires the install CD to be a minimum version of 4.02d. Windows 2000 requires the install CD to be a minimum version of 4.02. You cannot install 4.0 or 4.01 and upgrade to 4.02x.
14. Perform system restart.

Hi, Been of line for the past few days. Thanks to all for the help suggested. Lira, I have downloaded Reg Cleaner. As I don't consider myself much of an expert I will give this a go first and hope it works.

Just curious... WHY did you possibly want to use ezCD creator when you have this beautiful, superb Nero???
Great disappointment will come over you...

Anyway... try regcleaner like Liru suggested, this should delete anything old in your registery. After that install should work.

If this does not work and you are using XP, make sure you have NERO version 5.5 or newer. These are XP compatible. Should you still experience trouble, you might want to try ans install in compatibility mode. This is done by right clicking the installation file, choose properties and set compatibility mode to win98 or 2000.

If you still experience trouble, get back and report what's still bugging you.

Hey fifer,
Don't want to scare you mate but I did the same as you have and just couldn't resolve it. That easy CD should carry a health warning, its a pile of shite. In the end ( 4 days later ) I had to format my hard drive and start again. I'm not saying that you will have to do that because I'm just stupid when it comes to these things............GOOD LUCK
