Hi
as it says above just a ao5 for xmas copies fine , using nero as my software , but it has just took me over 2 hours to copie a cd .

thats never right , could any one tell me if i'm doing anything wrong or if there's need to change some setting in nero it a bit quicker or would i be best trying a different software for my dvdcom.

Thanks to all that answer

Well it writes CDR's at 16X so it should take around 5 1/2mins for an 80min CD.

Check that DMA is enabled, also are you copying on the fly??? What Spec PC, what are you burning, audio mp3's on the fly??

i did one on the fly with dma accidentlaly dissabled, took nearly 2 hours, so i would think that is your prob.

do you know how to enable it? to drunk to bother writing description unless you need it (if you do, also need to know o/s)

dma isn't in nero, its part of your operating system

what operating system have you got, i presume xp or 2000, since you are doing dvd's

in which case, on your desktop right click my coputer, properties, then select the hardware tab, the device manager.

when you have done that double click ata/ide controlers, then whichever channel your dvdr is on (if you don't know that check both channels) in there there will be a box saying 'transfer mode' if it says pio then dma is not selcted, if it says 'use dma if available' then dma is selected and this is not your problem.

if pio is selcted, use the dropdown box to enable dma transfer. If there is no setting for this then you may not have any chipset drivers installed and you need to install them either from your motherboard manual or from the web depending on what motherboard you are using

Thats still a bit on the long side m8,
Even at 1x you should be looking at a max of 1 hr (unless you are including ripping the image in the total time?)

thats the full proccess

around 30mins to rip and around 45 to burn

my mate has a ao3 and his takes 1 hour no longer

if anyone has any more fine tuning ideas please add , as it won't be just helping me but anyone new like me who has the same problem.

by the way me and my mate are using the same media : gen3(r2) dvd-r

Assuming it's a standard (ripped) DVDR, it should average around 55 min at x1, mine takes that long, have'nt tried any high speed media yet, but also using Nero, & burning on the fly...................point of interest, the new Harry Potter 2 DVDR took 36 min it total x1, so quite pleased with that........Tony92

but it still dosn't help i thought i would take a hour feel there something im not doing
when i fine what it is it will probably be something small like the tick in the dma box
