I have the original game and can't get it to play on my US Version 7 PS2 with Apple Mod installed. It will start, state that it is loading, ask about a memory card then go to the Electronic Arts screen. After that I get the "Insert A PS formatted disc" red screen! I made a back-up copy of it & it also would get to the Electronic Arts screen then kick over to the "Red screen of DEATH" So I tried playing both the original & back-up on a US version 7 PS2 with a No Soldier mod with Swap Magic disc with the same results. I did a search on the board and found a few others with the same problem but never found out why or a solution. Why the original won't work is the biggest mystery. I think somebody said that Spongebob does the same thing. I would like to know if this is true. Any input would be helpful. Thanks...

Do you have a Version 7 with an Apple Mod or a No Solder Mod using Swap Magic disc?

Like I said , the thing that really stumps me is that I have the ORIGINAL game and it didn't work on either system!!!

doesnt matter if the game is crap or not, it'd be nice for someone to find an answer to this, ay?

Is there any chance that the game is detecting my system has been modded? I know that a few PS1 games detect the presents of a mod chip but have never seen or heard of this in a PS2 game.

That would mean that it also is detecting a No Solder Mod. I wonder if there are any other mods it picks up?

technically the no solder mod isnt a mod, i dont see how it would detect the No-solder mod........maybe the game doesnt work on the new version of the ps2's?!!!!!

yep....i posted this topic about 2 or three weeks ago and still have the same problem.....spongebob does it to...but if you eject the game at the electronic arts screen and close it again, the game will play alittle longer, but does it again, still cant get it to work though....that leads me to believe that i rented the game for nothing......lol.. :zombie:

My son received the Simpsons Skateboarding for Christmas so $50+ seems to be wasted! Even though I didn't spend the money, I hate to see it go to waste! This has to be the strangest thing I've seen. I was hoping to figure out a way to make it work.

maybe it's cause the game is a Cd not a dvd

sangy35 to make it work, put the original in the tray and put the ps2 in standby. turn on the ps2 by holding the reset button for 3 seconds. this forces the apple chip into psx mode which will allow any ps2 ORIGINAL to boot and play fine. use this method to play it and you shouldn't have any problem. however, you won't be able to get a backup of it to work with the apple chip.

Just to confirm thagame24's statement, when I tried to boot the Network disc (dvd) for the network adapter, i had to boot it in psx mode. (hold down reset till Sony logo goes away.) It has been the only original i've had to do that with (FFX, DMC, VC work fine). Good luck

Well I got my original to work (game seems to SUCK!). Why would you have to do it that way? Thanks!!
