I have a JVC DVD/VCD/CD player, and is connected to my audio system. Can I play karaoke discs that will appear on the telly and the words move along in time to the music? If so, what are they called?

The only karaoke discs you will be able to play will be DVD or VCD karaoke discs as I dont think the JVC plays CDGs.Someone in here may have VCD karaoke discs,,,,,,,,,

I would say that 99% of DVD players don't play cdg. Your dvd player will have to have CDG mentioned in it's spec in order to be able to play them.

If you have ripped and converted a DVD to a VCD, it is now possible to convert the CDG (just the graphics) to an mpeg, as long as you have the correct codecs. Get the shareware here:

After conversion, you have to recompile the video with the audio:
For info on this, check here: http://www.vcdhelper.com
Then burn with a suitable program, either Nero with the proper plugin, adaptec ect.
It takes a while to recombine the file, but it really does work :)
