installed an xecuter 2 to my ver 1 xbox.
installed evolutionx (just by changing orig xboxdash.xbe for evolutionx's)
didnt change any of the menu.ini.
every thing seemed ok (played a game )unplugged it took xbox back downstairs didnt plug it back in,came to play on it next day it would only boot to evox screen would not play any games .
so i connected it to my pc via flashftp
and stupidly copied over from the xbox dvd the default.xbe to xbox c: and
renamed it xboxdash.xbe
the dvd i had in was splintercell i thought it was evolutionx
now the xbox just plays splinter cell and if i try to put anything else in it (inc evolution x cd) just hangs at the xecuter screen.
can anybody help please.

i dont know m8 but if youve got the evox ini on your x-box hard drive the ip address should be as when you ftp last ( i think )
i think because you changed xboxdash.xbe for the splinter cell xbe your xbox should cold boot evo-x cd are you sure youve burnt the evo-x cd properly

im burning it the same way i did to get it to boot in first place although it took a few attempts to boot it ,but as you can imagine ive tried and tried to boot the dash on dvd rw and cdrw

im going to try my pc dvdrom in it later just to make sure its not that.

is it not possible to ftp my xbox without evolution x loaded ?
if so how would i do it (find ip etc)
thanks

hi, you say the only game that works is splinter cell cos basically u have copied it's default.xbe over to ur box and renaming it so that it's now ur dashboard!?...ur xbox is now very excuslive :-) .... and u want access to evox for ur ip address, eh?...well, try this m8...

rip the plain files out of splinter cell, in the root u'll see these 3 files:

dashupdate.xbe
downloader.xbe
update.xbe

overwrite them with the evox 'default.xbe' by simply copying and renaming it to those filenames, burn it all back to a dvdrw, pop it in ur drive, spin up splinter cell, goto the download levels section in splinter cell's menu, run it!...and evox will magically appear! :-)

ps. btw, u can use this little hack to hide easter eggs in the live update games!... :-)

pps. u may wanna burn an evox.ini file with ur splintercell/evox compo too!

hi jay, been busy doing the work-family-kids-xmas-all trimings bit m8...usual stuff, it was nice...nuff said. anyways, i'm back now!, and can devote whole minutes of my time to composing my highly individual, stylistic, nonsensical, pigeon english postings!...so that's quite nice too! ;-)

no problem m8, i've been playing around hiding small games in the live update games, accessible via the live games menu...thought it would work with evox too
