installed winme upgrade over win98se and now computer will not work.
cant acsess safe mode all i get is C:prompt(This version of windows runs only on Ms-dos 8.00).

When upgrading i left my son watching the program run and he has just admitted that he ignore an error that said something like MPY38r

Tried using boot disc help files but no joy.
Is there a way i can save my info on HDD as there is 25gig of it.

Is it possible to install the HDD to my sons computer and some how interegate it and transfer the important files to his HDD or will i have to reformat.

Any Help please its the second time ive lost my wifes baby photos

Now that you have your data back I strongly suggest either upgrading to XP if you can or going back to 98. WinMe is a series of repetitive, disastrous PC crashes waiting to happen if you have any extra software at all. Been there and so have several of my friends and co-workers. Me has some nice features 98 doesn't but it is just too unstable. And don't rely on System Restore in Me, it doesn't always work. So far I have been running XP Pro for about 10 months with only self inflicted problems. I ran Me for 18 months prior to that, 18 months of frustration and lost data. If I couldn't have XP I'd go back to 98 before I put Me in anything again. Just my 2 cents.............
