ok...ive had ntl broadband for 6 months now first 3 months i had a different pc but worked fine...it was using windows 98. i then got rid of the pc and have been without one for 3 months and ive still been paying for my ntl broadband. i now have brought a brand new pc which is a q-tec 1.7ghz running on windows xp. ive put the ntl broadband cd into the pc went through the simple steps until a screen come up saying something like 'please wait while we try to get a new i.p address' i wait....then another screen comes up saying 'there is more than one DHCP' and some other crap. anyway cutting a long story short, ive phone ntl technical support up 4 times now going through EVERYTHING step by step. first time they said i should keep trying and it will work NO LUCK! second time they said there must be a fault in your area YEAH RIGHT! third time they said i need a newer braodband cd as my old one has currupt drivers! NO IT DOESNT! and anyway they sent a new cd WHICH I STILL HAVE SAME PROB! fourth time they said its not the modem...its not the coaxel wire.... its MY PC! the pc is BRAND NEW. they said take it back. but it cant be my pc. i think its just a simple thing i just need someone who knows more than the ntl technical support! it just wont get a i.p address. always gets the backup one 169.***.***.*** anyone help? or know of what i can do to make it work?

Are you running broadband through a set-top box? If you are, check that the middle led on the right hand side of the display is on constantly. If it isn't, or it flashes, then you need to tell ntl in order that they can correct the problem. It may be that the signal isn't strong enough, requiring some amplification, or maybe a problem at their end. All the time that led flashes, you've got no chance. I know - I had that problem too. Hope this helps.

phone them up and demand a tec comes out to you and installs it, its what you are paying for

i had a simular problem with blueyonder, i needed a new cable modem as my other one stopped working after a couple of hours.

a technicition should of come out a new years eve but they didnt come, as they accidently cancled my call, phone BY and shouted at them a bit then they said they would come out yesterday before 12, no one came, phoned them they said 1 hr, 1:30 no one came phoned agane some one before 3, came to 5:00 and sill no one

so my mom phoned and the woman who answered was one of the childerns parents who she teaches, and her husband also works for blueyonder, so she got him to come out this morning and he has upgraded my account the the 1meg for january, not bad

so just dont take any crap form them and try to speak to someone you know
