I'm running WinXP HomeEd. My scanner (HP Scanjet 3300c) was orginally used with Win 98SE. I got the updated disc from HP, verison 3.02. After loading it I still get errors - "Failure to communicate with scanner [1215]" and "Digital Signature Not Found"or "error occured during the move data process: -105" "Component:OCR Engines\Caere OCR Engine Supporting Files". The scanner is hooked-up properly. The scanner does not work in any kind of operation- scan/copy etc. Need a little help here or any indication what's the problem is. Thanks

The HP Scanjet scanner is connected, by a USB cable, to the computer
system and then the scanner stops working unexpectedly, or the scanner
may appear to work fine when Microsoft Windows XP first starts up but
later stops working.
This issue occurs because by default, Window XP tries to disable USB
port when the HP Scanjet scanner is not in use to save power. The
scanner fails to wake up when called. To fix this issue, disable power
management on the USB hub.
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, then click Properties. The
System Properties window will open.
2. Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. The
Device Manager window will open.
3. Double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers branch to expand
it.
4. Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties. The USB Root Hub
Properties window will open.
5. Click the Power Management tab.
6. Remove the check from the Allow the computer to turn off this
device to save power check box.
7. Click OK, and close USB Root Hub Properties window.
8. Close any other open windows.
Visit the Microsofts Web site if your computer does not shut down properly if selective suspend is enabled.

or try this
Just deinstall everything via InstallShield and manually delete all HPSC* HPSJ* entries in registry. then plug off then scanner, reboot the computer and plug on the scanner and follow the intructions by Windows XP. This will install the XP driver und join the scanner to Microsoft PictureIt. With this configuration the scanner works fine! A clear evidence that the software is buggy and not the scanner neither XP.

Thanks Drivers, I'll give this a shot. I got the (supposedly) update disc from HP but it doesn't work. So I'll give this a crack, cheaper than gettin' a new scanner. Thanks again.

Drivers, I tried all that you threw at me. None of it worked. I get this driver signing error. I contacted HP via email and they gave me some options to try but none of that worked either. There is nothing wrong with my usb cable, cause I tried it out on my printer and it prints fine. So it you guys can't come up with anything else I guess I have to get another scanner. Got any recommendations for an all in one scanner compatible with XP.
Thanks again,
Pete
