Hi!

My name is Per, and Iīm kind of new to this but I just red and followed your Ifoedit Guide.
Now to my problem...I ripped down Coyote Ugly Ntsc, exactly the way you described in the guide,
everything went well, took both audiostreams (DTS and AC3), engsub. Did all the steps, looked
at the ripped files size, was just over 4gb, so I didnīt resample. So I skipped to Vobedit/Ifoedit
section, everything looked OK, so I start burnin with Prassi PrimoDVD v2.0.

Took my new DVD, put it in the DVD-Player (Pioneer DV-717, hit play and the movie started fine.
But when I moved to another chapter, everthing freezes. I noticed the sek/min counter on the player
didnīt move!!!! So I started over again, let the movie play without any chapter change....OK!!!!
But still the counter didnīt move. What have I done wrong??? I canīt figure it out by my self, so
please help me!!!!!

I noticed that the guide was in Beta mode, but should work, and you like a mail if not.
I really hope you get back to me for some help!!

The best,
Per!

chances are you didn't do anything wrong though this is the second time I have heard someone mention a problem with that particular player and burning DVD's. It could be your player not handling the media. IT could also be the media.

The IFOEdit and the Spruce guides are pretty much complete. I have to remve the beta statement. What type of blanks do you use?

I tested this player severel times with other movies (I havnīt ripped them myself) on dvd-r blanks, works 100%

I use BULKDVD 1x media, I havnīt had any problem before

Another thing I just remember that just was not in the guide, in the smartripper section, you told us to check Demux to extra file in Stream Proccessing tab for the videostream and the audiostreams of choice. I unchecked all other audio and subtitlestreams. (french 5.1ch, eng 2ch, french sub, spanish sub), I thought I could save some disc space, but like I said Iīm a newbie to all this. Can this have effected it in some way???

One more thing, I recently successfully ripped this particulary movie using DVDXCopy ver. 1.3, but I wanted to go one step further, learning how to put a DVD-9 on one DVD-R instead of two!! Using exactly the same blanks and player, so I donīt think the problem lies there.

Please respond to me

Thats what your suposed to do. You did it right.

Other people are reporting this same problme and I don't kwow why. Strangely enough most people have mentioned your type of player when it happens. I really don't know why else it would be happening.

Should I try the Spruce-Up guide instead???

Hi again!!

I have now tried the movie on my other dvd-player (Mustek V560) and the movie worked fine, the chapters also. Sorry for my distrust!! but......the subtitles are not ok, they are out of sync, completely wrong with the video, maybe some chapters ahead I think! So why is that???? I feel a little bit grieved about this.

Can some experienced ripper/member help me with this please

Subs are buggy in general with IfoEdit unforgunately. Sometimes they work perfectly. Other times they don't work at all. Its very hit or miss.

Is the SpruceUp guide better or what???

better for what??? The guides both have what you need to get the job done. The applications are totally different and have there strenghts and weaknesses. I personally prefer IFOEdit because its faster. The only time I use Spruce is if I am converting some other format to DVD or need to make a menu for some reason.

I ripped the movie once again (starting to get a little bit bored) using a method from http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/index.html with IFOEdit.
Now another strange thing happens, at first chapter, on every frame it switches between french and english, very strange, the text displays english first, then french, english and on and on. But just on the first chapter, the rest is 100% ok. I have noticed this on the harddrive, directly after ripping, using both DVD Decrypter and Smartripper. I open the VTS_01_1.VOB file and the problem is there. So nothing bad happen during the IFOEdit steps or burning. Have you heard this ever before???

An other thing....I ripped and burn Spiderman R2 successfully using this method, so maby the problem lies just in Coyote Ugly R1???

I have now ripped and burn my Fleetwood Mac - The Dance......everything OK until chapter 18 (23 total) the player hangs, and thatīs it!!! Same on my both dvd-players!!! What is this ****????
Is it my blanks?? Strange, because they are 100% with movies I havnīt ripped myself. What can be different there? Theyīre probably using smartripper and IFOEdit as well, arenīt they??

I am very confused now, so please help!!!!

I really don't know what to say. Your problem seems very odd. There is one other thing I kind of remember hearing which is installing DVDXCopy can potentially screw up your other software. Perhaps formatting and a clean install on everything, but DVDXCopy might fix your problems but I can't gaurantee anything.

dvdxcopy works fine for me, that was my first software to try, but I want my backups on one disc, that why.

I understand what your saying. I'm saying I heard some people mention that installing DVDXCOPY screwed up there other software. I don't know how they resolved it. You might have to reformat to get rid of it. Do a search and see what you come up with. I could be completely off base on this of course.

oh, I know what's going on. You siad the test displays in English and French. It's a multi-angle VOB!

I just did Serendipity with IFOEdit/CCE-Avisnyth/Scenarist combo.

It did the same thing for the opening in Serendipity.

"the text displays english first, then french, english and on and on. But just on the first chapter" for your DVD.

What you need to do is, rip the DVD, now use IFOEdit to STRIP angles and leave only Angle 1! Make sure your chapters are still good. I dunno why the latest IFOEdit won't lemme rip angles but I used 0.932 to do it.

Then after you have the vob with just 1 angle left. Do the samething you always do.

Make sure your chapters are still correct after ripping the angles. I had to manually correct the chapters sometimes after IFOEdit rips stuff out.

Oki....I think I understand what you meaning, but I hope you can guide me further if I not. But a big thank you anyway.

One question though: english is my second language, I donīt understand the sentence " IFOEdit wonīt lemme rip angels" Perhaps you can help me to understand that please.

oh, IFOEdit is a program.

Use IFOEdit version 0.932, that's what I used to rip out Angle 2. For some reason, the newest IDOEdit will no let me use that feature (Removing Angles)

Anyway, use IFOEdit version 0.932, remove Angle 2. Then use that set of VOBs to do your DVD.

It should work perfectly, as I have done with the movie Serendipity.

Try the original IFOEdit site. If you have the latest version, click on the about IFOEdit and he has a link to his site. He should still have the old version somewhere.

I dunno if I can post where

Hi again!

Iīve now format and reinstalled my computer but my problem remains. Now I ripped and burned my Fleetwood Mac - The Dance again, and "unknown fileformat" says Powerdvd. Both my standalone players canīt play at all. Last time it stopped at chapter 18, now it wonīt play at all. What is this????? I follows the guide step by step. A 2hour waste again!!!!!

Spiderman is the only movie that is 100% ok, done excactly the same way.
My blanks starts to run out soon if this remains. Is there anyone who can help me please??
