when you play an svcd or vcd disk on a standalone dvd player, does it let you to fast forward or rewind the movies?

I guess it would depend on the player, but I would think generally yes.

Also can depend on what software was used and how it was burned if SVCD, you can run into problems like this if you have used Nero to burn SVCD's on some players. Better to use VCD Easy or NTI, not seen any problems with discs authored that way. The results are better anyway.
