I hope someone will be able to help me I need a driver for a Matshita DVD ROM SR-8584A e15c for windows XP professional. I had WinDVD installed on Win 98SE but it doesn't work on XP and now the D drive isn't even recognised properly (using a generic driver). I have also got graphic card problems and modem problems, so I found new drivers on line, via my new computer, burnt them to disc but the disc isn't recognised in the DVD drive on the old computer (with the Matshita DVD). Grr I'm going round in circles!

A driver and a decoder are completely different. The drive will just use the default windows driver. This means it can read DVD's, however to play them you would need a DVD decoder..
