I have the latest firmware for my A03 but it won't burn a DVD. When I try to put any other firmware on it just says FW is already latest. HELP!

When I try to put the firmware 1.55 on direct from the pioneer website it looks to run ok and then just does this when writing to the firmware [0m.

which firmware did you install? 2.0 or 1.9? 2.0 is the latest not 1.9, but stay away from the 2.0 2x4all. It messed up my drive. I have to downgrade.

Its 1.9. So how did you downgrade? What do you mean by messed up? Broke it?

It did what you are describing. First off if you have 1.9 have you tried setting your burn to 1x instead of MAX or 2X? It could just be that your blanks won't burn at 2x no matter what. You might want to just upgrade to the real version of 2.0 (not the 2x4all) instead of trying to downgrade. Getting it to downgrade took me MONTHS of ****ing around.

Yeah I have tried burning at 1x too and same errors. So how did you downgrade in the end? Where can I get the real version of 2.0? I will try anything now! My CDRW has just FUCT up too so a bit stressed!

what would happen if you totally reformated your computer, but make a partition 1st and move all your files you need to keep.

would a full reformat work, or not

that is the real 2.0. As far as downgrading what FINALLY worked for me (and may not work for you) is I downloaded the 2x4all 2.0 version and took the upgdvd.exe from that and used it with 1.68 2x4all (with the /F option) and that worked. I was in windows when I did it.

I have just burned a succesful DVD, I loaded this firmware (2.0) and then started all over again with a DVD. It now works fine at does it at 2x on my Traxdata DVD-Rs.

u need to use pure dos and download using the hacked firmware for 1.65 and then flash it to 1.68, that was the most stable firmware.

Is that more stable than the latest 2.0?

yes its burns no problem and has the less errors with it

I have learned that if it aint' broke, don't fix it. If its currently working, you can do what you want, its your drive, but I would suggest not screwing with it, if u don't need to.

and when ya say download hacked firmware 1.65 will this go straight over the 1.90
when you say flash it with 1.68 do ya download and just install this over the 1.65

Why not do as RichardC says and install the official v2 firmware
just download it and double click the upgrade.exe file

I installed the hacked version 2 -- and my A03 would no longer write anything, and what a pain trying to downgrade, eventually managed it using the F option

but since I have used the official version my writer is working fine
