Firefox32 Jan 05, 2003, 09:15 AM I upgraded the firmware on my Pioneer 105 from version 0.52 to version 1.21, Everything appeared to go fine, but now when i try to record anything using nero or Prassi dvd all i get is a message saying waiting for drive to become ready
The drive is still recognised in xp and plays cd and dvd's fine i just cant burn anything
I cant flash the drive back to 0.52 so what can i do...?
MAXXTRO Jan 05, 2003, 09:33 AM i flashed to this version of firmware on a105 and have no problems at all
Firefox32 Jan 05, 2003, 10:05 AM I dont understand it , It was working fine before i flashed it, Now i cant get it to burn anything, it just says either "not ready" or "waiting for device to become ready" but it still reads DVD's fine and i had no error messages during the flash upgrade, everytrhing appeared to go fine
If I had a bad flash , is there anyway i can force it to re-flash the drive..?
Everytime i try it just says drive is already v.1.21
Quakemaster Jan 05, 2003, 10:35 AM I'm too scared to flash my 105.........it may be in your case the burning software is now 'too old' to recognise your 105.
Only thing I can suggest it try and get the very latest burning software and see if it recognises the 105
Upgrade by way of flashing is irreversible I think
Firefox32 Jan 05, 2003, 10:45 AM Already have the latest versions of the software, and they were working great before i upgraded
Thanks anyway
brad101 Jan 05, 2003, 11:54 AM try reinstalling the burn software,worth a try.
Firefox32 Jan 05, 2003, 12:18 PM already tried that too.
Just tried burning to a Traxdata DVD-RW and that works ok
At the moment i only have cheap eproformance DVD-R to try, these disks worked fine before the update could the update of done something to the drive causing it to be incompatable with this media...?
I have ordered some other DVD-R's to try them, but will have to wait a few days to get them
steve54 Jan 05, 2003, 05:06 PM the answer to most questions on these forums about pie 105 media problems is use quality media not the cheap stuff.try buying sample packs from reputable dealers and stick with the ones that work.
have you got pio set to 4 in your m\b bios and dma set for your primary and secondry ide controllers.another thing to think about is your pc powerful enough and have you got enough memory.
flashed my 105 last week with 121 and not a problem yet.
hetoge Jan 06, 2003, 06:06 AM don't know if you checked this link out but it might help i flashed mine without any problems

misky Jan 06, 2003, 01:52 PM Hi
Are u sure the epreformance disks worked before the flash ?,they have never been recognised by my 105 before or after flashing and several sites are listing the eperformance disks as one of those not recognised, which is a shame as they work a treat at 2x in my 104
Cheers
Misky
grandmaster F Jan 12, 2003, 04:06 PM Firefox32, you can flash your drive back to 0.52 firmware with a program called flasfix. it will force the drive to accept the firmware, someone will just have use flashfix to extract their 0.52 firmware and upload it on the net
lostinspace Jan 22, 2003, 07:18 PM Are you sure it is a DVR-105. just got mine and it came with 1.0
from the factory. Thought 1.0 was the first level of flash for this unit
went to 1.21 and running fine
handyguy Jan 23, 2003, 12:32 PM Pioneer makes the drives, so they should have plenty of info on their site too.

Rick123 Feb 10, 2003, 12:31 PM Is there a good reason to chance the firmware upgrade. I have version 1.0 and working fine. As the saying goes, it aint broke, should I bother?
Grego24 Feb 10, 2003, 05:29 PM Rick, I'm with you mine has wrked flawlessly even burning some memorex discs @ 2x while my buddies 104 only runs em @ 1x so I won't chance it for now:)
