I have a v7 ps2 modded with messiah2 modchip and have a question regarding playing backup audio cd-r. when i load them in I get the screen where you can select the track you want to play, but when you press play nothing happens, just stops. this happens also with original audio cd's. Any help would be appreciated.

Not entirely sure mate.. But..! try disableing the Messiah 2 chip by holding the RESET button down from a standby start for around 7 seconds..

Basically,

Put your cd in the tray, put PS2 into standby, restart Ps2 with RESET button and keep it held down for about 7 seconds.. Should disable the chip and if this is causing the problem in the first place it should in theory resolve it..

Let us know what happens.. Will try this later on today with a Messiah2 chipped V7 and see if I get the same problem.

you only need to hold reset untill eject light comes on to disable the chip.

That puts the chip into PSX/Film mode mate thus the chip is still active. According to the Messiah site you need to hold the button down for a while longer to disable it. Thats what I've read anyway, could be wrong....
