not to sound too nasty or anything but does a bear s**t in the woods. Here's the maths m8ty :- 10ish x 56k = 512k... 250k download (in multiples, so 60 x 4. and then there the upload speed which doesn't really matter unless you'd like to utilse it for FTP servering or a e-mail server or....the list is endless. But if you have the money then go out and get now

B90

Hope you get it

Oh and Pipex or Vulture is quite good depending if you want a static IP address

Right time for a  after that long winded conv.

well i am with them and the speed stays at 576kb/s and is fast. :)

Telewest have come out with their 1mbit connection but it is more than BT but im not to sure on their customer service (telewest) as i saw on Watchdog some months ago. However the customer service of BT is brilliant its gotta be said.:D

p2p is ****,
I got broadband (BT - but I don't think it will matter), and I get really slow download times, very rarely does it goe above 5k/sec.

However downloading off the net and ftp is very fast.

I have now given up on peer to peer sharing. I have discovered newsgroups and how to get stuff from them, and now I feel that my fees for broadband are justified. I felt lucky if i got a decent download speed with kazaa. I am with BTopenworld, and although it gets a lot of bad press as a broadband isp, I can't moan about them really, very few faults, pretty fast surfing, and (now) decent download speeds to get the stuff I want. I've been with them now a year and a half. Although the tech. support is limited if a gets a bit TOO technical.

Been with BT for a year now, good speeds and only had 1 problem which meant no connection for a couple of hours, but 24hr cheap rate tech helpdesk..... only thing is they are the most expensive broadband isp....

Friend has aol - cheaper and freephone tech helpdesk and had no probs...

i quite like my 600k from NTL, very rarely any probs and its cheaper than bt too i believe. always have downloads of around 70ish, and havn't fallen below 60 for quite a while unless its from a slow server, which is not ntl's fault.

excellent for internet gaming, really low pings

Some people who have gone for the BT package have had trouble with the supplied ADSL modem. Apparently the Alcatel modem doesn't work well (or at all) with some motherboards - VIA chipsets mostly from what I hear. Just something to be aware of...

also if you read the small print of the BT contract and i quote

"The BT Broadband is designed to allow users the capabilty of downloading up to 1Gb of data per day, or 10,000 images, 650 30 second videos or 200 music tracks. However, to preserve download speeds for a majority of customers, BT reserve the right to control or restrict very heavy usage of the service" Unquote

With pipex you dont get any restrictions, when they say 24/7 they mean it.

I've had BT broadband (not BT Openworld) for 4 months now. No problems until last 2 weeks. Sometimes I'm unable to connect for 4 hours and I couldn't get through on the free 0800 number to enquire why.
