just brought a l/t (dell lattitude xpi cd) but it doesnt read from the cd-rom drive when i try updating the drive for it it says its already useing the best drive but it doesnt seem to be recognizing the drive anyone got any ideas?

hahahaha!! I had the same problem.

Change your IDE controller under device manager to PIO only. It's probably on DMA.
That should instantly fix the problem. If it's already on PIO, switch it to DMA, restart and them put it on PIO.
