what i would like to know is
what is the max speed someone can download files from my site
i am using a cable modem at 1mb speed if that help
i know i can download at up to 128mb p/s
but is the upload the same or less

When someone downloads from your ftp server, you are in essence uploading to them. So their download speed is limited to the highest speed that you are able to upload at. Virtually all cable providers cap upload speed at a fraction of the download speed, so it will be much slower than your download speed. The easiest way would be to check with your cable provider or ask others who have the same service to find out exactly what your upload speed is capped at.
