I recently put in a no solder chip w/ swap magic, and when i was putting in the backup, the tray closed on the backup, so i shut the power off, now the ps2 wont power up at all. I checked the fuse where the power comes into the unit but no luck......any ideas

sounds like you damaged the ribbon cable. Maybe it was hanging by a thread when you first tried to boot it.

Are you talking about the cable the goes from the chip to the eject button?

There should be couple ribbons, I dunno which no-solder, but there is that Eject ribbon and the controller ribbon and dvd ribbon. Anyway, just open it and make sure all the ribbon are secured and not being pinched.

if its not the cable....just remove the chip. Maybe you recieved a bad chip and it just burnt out after it's first use.

I replaced the ribbon with no luck, i also removed the chip, and tried it without that, still no luck....Does anyone have any other ideas.....All I did was shut the power off on the ps2 when a disk got caught in the tray, and while the power was off pushed the tray back into the ps2...

Some No Solder mods have had problems with ruining PS2's.

did the disk tray close on your disk?

Yes the disk tray did shut on the dvd, so i shut the power off, and pulled out the dvd

Hey Jaice, could you tell me a little more about the no-solder mods ruining ps2's. do you know which part that it effects , so that i can attempt to replace it. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Ive seen a lot of post about No Solder mods breaking PS2's, its was when they first came out too, but no one ever figured out why.

any other ideas?
