I would like to know if anyone can tell me the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r discs.

Will both types work as backup copies of ps2 or xbox games?

I am thinking of purchasing a new computer and it comes wit an HP dvd+r writer.

Thanks for the help.

most people use -r, supposely it's more compatible with xbox and ps2.

But lots of people use +R and it's fine. Just have to find a brand of media that it likes.

-R is cheaper.

+R was faster, by .5, but now 4x -R burners are out.

Everything i have read says that +r is a more advanced technology, however, the disks are more expensive. Both have about 90% acceptance in standalone dvd players. Right now my recommendation is -r, its all about the price.
