killahis Jan 21, 2003, 04:12 PM I soon get a DVD burner (a sony DRU-500A :) ) And i want to know how much i can overburn a DVD-R can i burn, can I burn 4.8G max or 4.9G or exactly 4.7G? Jolard Jan 21, 2003, 06:44 PM Overburn is generally pretty limited (at least in my experience.) also, remember that a DVD -r is really only about 4.3 GB, not the advertized 4.7. It is just a wonderful marketing lie. 9 Riverz Jan 22, 2003, 01:07 PM What's the max amount anybody ever burnt for a data dvdr DR69ON Jan 22, 2003, 10:09 PM I think 4.3 is the max you can burn. Jaymus Jan 22, 2003, 10:21 PM It's just how you view it in Windows......4.384 GIG is like ~4,700,000,000 bytes) This is one of my images. 4.29 GB (4,612,620,288 bytes) Depends what view you are looking at....... So DVD-Rs do hold 4.7 gigs, but 4.384 gigs in most Windows Explorer, but in reality it's 4,700,000,000 or so bytes. Hence 4.7 DR69ON Jan 22, 2003, 10:32 PM Yea it suck, I was trying to fit 26 episode of cowboy bebop divx (4.7) onto 1 dvdr data cd, and it won't let it, because the max was only 4.3 rishardc Jan 23, 2003, 08:39 AM I can usually get about 4.41 gigs on. I guess if you look at it like that then you can overburn a few hundred megs. xdeity Jan 23, 2003, 06:06 PM 4.39 seems to be my limit |
