Hello, I just made my first dvd using www.dvd2dvdr.com methods. I did spiderman and i doen't look as good as the original. The Color, Sound, Framerate are ok but it just looks fuzzy. Is this the best quality I can get from this method? Here my steps:

1. DVDDCRYPTER - select main file only and rip (30 minutes)
2. DVD2AVI - Demux AC3 and save project (8 minutes)
3. VFAPI - Convert to AVI (10 seconds)
4. BITRATE Viewer - View information and save to txt file ( 30 seconds)
5. CCE - Enter information from Bitrate, Select Video only, Change Aspect ratio, change quality to 5, change GOP to 4, SELECT MPG2 MULITPASS WITH MAX=9000, MIN=2000, AVERAGE=4500, NUMBER OF PASSES =2, ENCODE ( 4 hours)
6. Pulldown (10 minutes)
7. IFOEDIT - Open original ifo file from dvddcyter and save celltimes. Open ifoedit again, select dvd author, use pulldown created vob files, audio from original (setting delay), load celltimes and create new dvd ( 20 minutes)
8. NERO EXPRESS - Create new dvd video, add VIDEO_TS directory , burn @ 2x with Ritek (30 mintues)

I just want to know if this is the best the quality dvd rips can get? I may use dvdxcopy and keep the quality and the best level instead. I have never seen anybody elses dvdrips so can not tell if the problem is the way that I am doing it or the this is the best that can be done.

I hate to say it because I was recently in an arguement with someone claiming there is no way that I saw what I saw in regards to a DVD players quality, but I think your seeing things.

To start with the quality of the original DVD is quationable. I dont' think it was as clear as it should have been.

DVDXCopy will make exact duplicates of your original HOWEVER you will then have it split over 2 DVD's. Personally I prefer 1 DVD, but not everyon thinks like me and is entitled to there own oppinion.

You said you did a 2 pass encode with CCE, try a 4 pass and you should see a noticable improvement in the quality. ;)

Yes, it will take a lot longer.

Spiderman R2 does not need re-encoding, I did mine this way :

DVD Decrypter - Mode/Ifo then check Stream processing tab deselect all unwanted subs and audio with the main Video and ac3 track select this to demux to extra file

Then use either Maestro or Spruce Up to re-author, total size is about 4.08GB
