I am a newbie to world of CD-Ws. I have read several posts that refer to the ASPI layering.,

I have installed a adpatec 2920 (I think thats it) SCSI card and a yamaha 8424S scsi CD-W,

My system reconizes the CD-w and even identifies it correctly. I have updated the drivers and firmware.

However the drive doesn't recogonize anything that is put in it. It reads a disk and shows me nothing, when I try to write to it USING XP write to CD it tells me No media found.

XP tells me the device is working fine but it will not read anything or write anything.

?? Do i need to do some ASPI layering, Someones post says that W2K needs to have that done. is the same true with XP.

?? Do i need to install Roxio, NERO, or CD ezwriter to have the CD work correctly.

?? Am I missing something else. ?? any help would be appriciated.

ASPI should assist in better communications from the drive. While native to the Win 9x OS, ASPI is not installed with Win 2K and Win XP. Win 2K seem to function fine with the latest ASPI layers but Win XP has a preference for ASPI v4.60.

Check out Alex Nichol's site on CD Burning in XP. Look in the Problem section for a possible fix using either the update or the reg fix http://www.aumha.org/a/xpcd.htm
