could someone list what i need to connect 2 comp in house
i have just installed the new dvd writer a05 and would like to back up what i have on my other computer

so what cables do i need to do this or do i also need to do something inside comp

A crossover lan cable will be ideal, if you have Nic card installed on both. If not you can get a USB crossover cable, but the speeds will be drastically slower.

unless you have usb2 which is actually faster than lan or firewire

lan=100
firewire=400
usb2 =450

Theoryically, USB is supposed to be faster, but in real world testing, Firewire out perfroms usb 2.0 in almost every benchmark.

One of the easiest ways would be to get a pair of USB Wi-Fi Network Adapters.
Not sure where you are but these are down to about £80 GBP (US $130) these days.
