I am an old hand at chiping and backing up the original PSX system, but am new to the XBOX. I have been reading info on the process here and elsewhere and have an idea how to do it. The one thing that I am not sure of yet though is...do you need a dvd-r burner? I have seen that most mod chips will work with cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r...etc. What I haven't been able to figure out is if you can use a cd-rw drive to burn games.

it is possible ( i think, just using a cd burner) have a look in the faq`s section, but you really WANT to get a dvd burner most games a really large, i have put a game (crazy taxi3 ) on cd-rw but that was using my pie`n`ear ao4 and primo dvd, i know the setting on primo dvd, but it wont startup with a normal cd burner.

Thanks for the info. I have checked the FAQ, but found nothing that said one way or the other. I used CDRWIN in the past (PSX), and understand it works well with XBOX games also.

the majority of games are too big for cd-r/w so just get a dvd burner.
unless you want to download cd-rips but that just sucks ***
