Hi,

can anyone give advice or offer help. Had ago at updating the firmware in my cdrw to the recent ver. During the flash i lost power to the PC and now i cant get access to the drive.

It does not get recognised in the bios, and will not regisiter in the POST tests.

It appears that there is no power to the drive either.

IS there any way of bringing the unit back to life or is it totally dead, i've tried to re-flash but the drive is recognised.

Any help or advice please;

Details of unit are

LG CED8080B, 8x , 4x, 32x.

Not the most up to date unit but it did work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am no expert but i would say your writers bios has snuffed it,gone and died.you were unlucky but it does say when you flash the firmware if the mains is interupted then your writer could be ruined.would think you may have to buy a new writer,the liteons are cheap and at present seem reliable.colin

:( nope sorry to say she's a goner.
Short of having the factory reprogram the EPROM this is one of the risks of flashing any hardware. Looks like it's time for a new drive m8.

That's why I always plug my computer & the device I'm trying to upgrade the BIOS to a UPS before performing the upgrade. I believe your burner is gone and the only thing that may bring it backto life is to send it back to the manufacturer's service center.

Yeah, sorry, m8! There is nothing else you can do besides sending it back to the manufacturer. The fact is a flashable device can only be flashed by consumer if and only if it is recognized by the system. When the flashing is screwed up, there is no way for the system to recognize it via its incomplete BIOS. It then no longer exists anymore to the system.
