First of all I would like to say a big hello to all members on this site. I have just come across this site a couple of weeks ago and have been gaining alot of good info from the message boards. My two girls and I get carried away alot with Karaoke and have gained a bit of interest in the pc side of things. We would like to back some of our cdg disc up and were woundering could any of you reliable members out their suggest a USB CD+G Player reader and writer that may be of help to us. It has got to be USB as we run a laptop only. Thanks in advance and we will be visiting this forum alot in the future.

Plextor cd writers (usb type available) are the best for the job they write 100% error free, other drives are not so accurate at cdg so you cannot rely on a good copy. Once backed up to disc you have them stored for good.
Other options are an external hdd - usb. but you could lose your backups if it crashes.
If converted to mp3+g to save space, play the tracks using winamp and the cdg plugin, both are free at
www.winamp.com

I have found Caddies made by VIPOWER which are USB 2.0 and you can fit a variety of permutations into them to overcome this problem, but CDRWIZARD is right the Pleccy is the only burner to go to.

(PS, YOU CAN ALSO FIT DVDs into them too !!)

If your Lappy has'nt got USB 2.0 ,then you can get a PCMCIA to USB 2.0 Adaptor (or Cardbus to USB 2.0)
Tha t will then give you the facility to run your Vipower Caddy.
Vipower alsodo a PCMCIA/ CARDBUS to 5 1/4" CADDY WHICH WILL ACCEPT A Plextor and /or any ATAPI DEVICE.
Hope this has been of help

As a point of interest I have successfully Burned a DVD from a Pioneer housed in the ViPower 5 1/4" Caddy with Data from a 120gb Maxtor which has been in the 3 1/2" external Hard drive Housing.
This via USB 2.0 on a PCI USB 2.0 CARD with 4 ports
Good Luck All !!
