Posted a little while back about DVD+R not working in my XBOX. Tried different brands but nothing worked - so I just accepted it.
Tried a movie I burnt on DVD+R and it worked fine. Why is this? I thought it was the drive that was not capable of reading DVD+R?
Why do movies work and not games?
Thanks

you don't say if you have a chipped box as an unchipped box will read dvdr films but NOT dvdr games. your probably thinking of cdr's that dont play in your drive!!

True. I use DVD-R movies in an unchipped xbox and they play fine but unless you have a modchip game backups won't work. The newest version xbox's are compatible with + format but the older ones are hit and miss. The - format is supported by both the older 1.0 version (manufactured prior to august 2002) and the newer 1.1 version (manufactured november 2002 and later). If you have a box that was manufactured between august 2002 and november 2002 check www.xbox-scene.com as they can give you further details on what to look for to tell whether or not it is 1.0 or 1.1.
I hope this helps

I also forgot to add that if you don't hook your xbox up to your computer and use the drive from the xbox to do the reading the backup will never work. Unlike the playstation and playstation 2 you can't just pop a game disc into your computer have it read it and then burn it to disc. I hope this helps

Yeah, sorry, just to clear up.
I do have a chipped (Enigmah) XBOX, it's an old version 1.
The problem is that games wont work on DVD+R - but will work on all other types (+RW,-R, CD-RW).
I was just wondering why a movie will work on my XBOX burnt on DVD+R while a game will not?

Version 1.0 is more compatible with - format whereas + is more hit and miss. version 1.1 is supposed to be compatible with all formats. DVD-R is the cheapest media so I Would probably stick with that. I have no idea why it will play movies but not games other than what I have already told you about DVD+R working sometimes (or for one application) but not always (For every application).
