dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 06:34 PM i delited my c drive by accident but i do have a backup... how can i reinstall it... im freaked out over here..... please someone help me Baturkin17 Jan 28, 2003, 06:47 PM boot evox off of a cd and then ftp the files over to the xbox dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 06:47 PM you can do that dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 06:49 PM it says xbox neads service dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 06:58 PM i think its as good as dead.... i cant figure it out dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 07:10 PM i did backup my c drive.... so all i have to do now is get evox disk to run agan and the requires service screen will go away and i can just replace my c drive Jaymus Jan 28, 2003, 07:10 PM dang, I wrote a long post, but didn't see that you had a backup. :p It's simple to restore, just put boxplorer or xbcopy and your whole C: Drive backup in a directory and burn it on a Cd-RW or DVD-R/RW (whatever your XBox reads) (making Xboxplorer or xcopy as default.xbe) or you can use evoxdash boot disc and put boxplorer or xbcopy and load it that way. Then just go into your C: backup directory on the disc and copy it all over to the XBox HD. You should be good to go. dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 07:13 PM i keep screwing crap up... i cant get evox to run now..... to get evox to run again i have to make it an iso and burn at 1x speed right and turn on box and it shood boot that up right.... is there a way to test the iso befor u put into your box Jaymus Jan 28, 2003, 07:16 PM ? How did you load evoxdash on the first place. Use that same disc you had. You can burn datadisc following Cal_G's tutorial, you don't have to do iso. Anyway, basically use the goldberg method, but ALSO burn your whole C: on the disc, then you can just copy it over. -- You can burn the xbox copy utility as default.xbe as well along with your C: drive backup and copy it that way. Basically, you need some way to Boot off the DVD drive and be able to copy/ftp content off the DVD or from PC. dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 07:17 PM thanx alot ill try those i hope they work... dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 07:31 PM ive got the iso for evox here... i gust burn that or do i have to do suttin to it Jaymus Jan 28, 2003, 07:44 PM If you know the FTP settings, you need to extract the ISO and edit evox.ini so you can ftp the stuff. I sugguest just burning a disc with xboxplorer, and xbcopy, and your C Drive. (I think xboxplorer can copy, I don't use it as I have never had to :p ) Rename xboxplorer.xbe (or whatever it's called) to default.xbe and burn that along with backup of your C: drive in a folder. Then Copy all the crap over when it boots! It's not hard man.......U need a Boot disc with your C: Drive backup and some form of copying program or ftp capabilities. Jaymus Jan 28, 2003, 07:58 PM I am assuming the XBox can boot with an empty C: drive. If it can't, you might be screwed. Maybe you have to pull the drive out and do the HD prepare thing, kind of like upgrading an HD but just doing the original. (Don't do this, ONLY as last resort) If you can get anything to boot off the DVD drive, you are still fine. Can you boot games? dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 11:06 PM nope cant boot games ither... now what dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 11:09 PM am i really that fked dylan tracy Jan 28, 2003, 11:25 PM personally im just glad that my bumb as$ didnt kill it... that would have been a wast of money..... but do u think i should just get a new bigger hd now or is easy to prepare Jaymus Jan 29, 2003, 02:12 PM The solution if you can't copy your backup over, is to do HD prepare on another HD. (Might as well do a larger one) Follow the instructions for HD prepare in the nfo files that come with it. Check xbox-scene also. If you have all your files from C: you should be fine. Did you back up E:? I think you might need that, but E: is not as important. dylan tracy Feb 02, 2003, 09:15 PM 1. how can i put my new hd in my comp so it dont freeze again?(thats what it did the first time and thats why all my boot records got lost) 2. and i was looking into replacing my comp hd to a 120 and my xbox wit the 40 that was in my comp... but the hd hase dif. position pins than my ribon has. can i change the cable or is that hd not compatable? and if not what kind of hd's are? thanx for your time Jaymus Feb 02, 2003, 10:15 PM Huh, what you you mean different postition Pins(I assume you mean master/slave setting), just set it as master or slave or use cable select (depends how your PC is setup). I think you already messed it up from the other thread............ Just have someone do it for you. dylan tracy Feb 02, 2003, 10:58 PM i really do mean the ribbon cable..... one of the pin holes on the cable is a block(theres one more pin on the top of my seagate hd than the bottem) but on my 40 theres the same number on the top and bottem.. theres no one around me wit a chip so know one knows how do it for me |
