Just had a quick look at a newbie quide for burning dvds, it says that u can not burn dvds within Windows ME. Can anyone confirm this???

You cant burn nothing over 4 gig because of the FAT32 4 gig file size limit, get a copy of Xp or 2000 and you will have no problems.

You can make them but very short ones, like 19 minutes because of that file size limit, although I hear you can use pxengine to make under 4 gig size files.

That's not true. It depends on what method you use. If you use the stream process method...then most likely you can't. But if you use the files method on smartripper, you can.

Use Smartripper or DVD decrypter. Each VOB is .99 gigs. I have ME and never had any problems burning/ripping dvds. WHoever said you cant burn dvds in ME is a dipshit

rubberman, what process did you use to put them back on a dvd with Me?

What i do is use Smartripper to rip the file to the harddrive. After ripping to a folder it will show:
VIDEO_TS.ifo/bup
VTS_01_0.ifo/bup
VTS_01_1.vob - VTS_01_X.vob

Each vob file is .99gigs except the last one which is usually smaller.
Depending on the movie i might use ifoedit to strip. I make sure everything is correct and i burn the VIDEO_TS folder with PrimoDVD. Never had one problem and seems to be compatable with alot of players.

Yeah I have windows ME and I don't have any problems. I use DVD Dycrypter and DVD2ONE.

rubberman, so every movie you have done so far then has not needed to be re-encoded. what happens when you use your method and you get 5 or 6 1GB vobs that need to be recoded ?

bamm2k, Same again really just to try dvd2one out the other day i used Saving Private Ryan, The end result wasnt bad but the size was 4.36GB (4,468,871) This would not work on a FAT32 system as the end of the film would be missing or does dvd2one cap it to 3.99 losing even more quality

I try to avoid movies that need re-encoded. Because i'm still confused on Rempeg. So if i do run across a movie that will not fit on 1 dvdr after stripping audio/subtitles i will split it to 2 dvdrs. But last night i did Domestic Disturbance with DVD2one with excellent results. It was 4.58gigs after stripping. All movies i do i strip audio/subtitles so it will fit on 1dvdr unless the movie is dvd5.
