was converting 8 mile XVID to DVD with tmpeg
first i ripped the audio to wav with vd
then when i converted with tmpgenc to NTSC DVD
followed the wizard and ended up with just a .m2v file
i inputed both video and the .wav for the movie and in the end it spit out the .m2v file and another wav file with the same name. wasnt i supposed to get a mp2 file instead of the wav file.
what did i do wrong here?

You have 2 options.
1) Set TMPGEnc to 'Audio only' and load the wav as the source file. You'll get the mp2 file which you can then remux with the m2v
2) Use the m2v as the video source and the wav as the audio and reencode.
Option 2 will take hours so preferably use option 1.
Also keep an eye on where the output file is going, this one often tricks me as I keep looking in the wrong directory for the completed file :o

In TMPGEnc one of the tabs in MPG Tools is 'remux' Choose the m2v as the video source, mp2 as the audio then set the type to MPEG1 VCD or MPEG2 SVCD. You can't remux a wav into the m2v as the wav format isn't supported by TMPGEnc remuxing facility. That's why I said you need to use TMPGEnc to encode the wav to mp2 using the 'audio only' encoding.

man i am so lost
i have tried so many different things
i have a m2v and a wav (also have a mp2)
i wanna make a dvd with a menu and chapters and such
ive tried spruceup but it wont load the audio files
i am currently trying ulead dvd moviefactory 2. i can load the m2v but i cant seem to find out how to load the audio aswell( when i load the audio with it it previews out of sync and shows the total size above 6 gig.. which is impossible cuz the m2v is less than 3 and the wav is just over a gig
can someone plz help me out
ive done hundreds of (s)vcds and i never had to do this
is it possible i can join the m2v and the wave to create one file cuz if i can do that then i know how to create the menues and everything to go with it. thx
edit: one more thing, can u plz explain this in newbie terms to dvd if possible, i just want to get going on the right track here

you might want to look for a program called headac3he...it will convert your wav into an ac3 file for use w/ spruceup, I can't recall where I found it... just type the name into google and see what you come up with. L8r

OK here is how I would do it. first you need to get the MPEG2 file sorted.
The m2v file is the video part produced by TMPGEnc, wav is the audio part however TMPGEnc will not accept the wav as a source when remuxing (ie combining audio & video), it will only accept an mp2 file. So the m2v is the video part, the mp2 the audio part. Using TMPGEnc MPG tools REMUX the m2v and mp2 files into MPEG2.
With that done play the MPEG to see if the audio and video are in sync.
If they are then use either Spruceup or ulead DVD to add chapters and menus to the MPEG. http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/139093.php
