Where do you live? That makes a bit of a difference. I personally like the Cendyne drives (exact same as the highly praised Pioneer drives). I have a Cendyne105(Pioneer105) which does DVD-R/-RW formats. It will do DVD-R at up to 4x. If you are into doing game backups for xbox or PS2 then DVD-R is the format which you will have the most success with (provided you use the recommended brands of media). I have heard so many hit and miss stories with the DVD+R/+RW formats it isn't even funny. Games either play solid, don't work at all or only work after rebooting it several different times with DVD+R/+RW. Both DVD-R and DVD+R are about equal when it comes to movie playback in stand alone dvd players. on the DVD movie playback side my fujifilm DVD-R discs play perfectly both in my PS2 Version 30001R and my V 1.0 xbox perfectly (my girlfriend also has played them perfectly in a Version 3 30001 PS2). I would also like to add that my xbox has the notoriously picky philips dvd drive and they work perfectly. I hope this helps
