Put the cd in your drive, double click on my computer, and then double click on the cd-rom --- it will either run the setup program or show you the contents of the cd. If it shows you the contents then double click on setup...

OR

Just put the XP cd in the drive, reboot your computer, and follow the prompts.

Edit: If you are installing XP on your "h" drive (dual booting) and your "h" drive is on the pci controller, pay attention when setup is first starting -- it will say to press f6 (I believe) to install scsi or raid drivers. You must install these drivers if the hard drive you are installing to is on the pci card.

From DOS the command to launch Windows XP installation is WINNT.EXE from inside the i386 directory.

alternatively set the bios to boot from cdrom (if supported) put xp in cdrom and it will auto run and give options to install/repair console etc.
