I have a geforce 4 mx 440 pci card, and windows 2000 pro.
My card has svideo out, but my tv only has rca video in, so I bought a converter that converts the svideo signal to an rca signal.
When I hook up my computer to the tv and turn it on, the screen is in black and white and the screen flickers alot (moves up and down).
Also, for some reason the computer doesnt load into windows. It shows the compaq startup screen, but then the screen stays black.
I dont know if its the converter thats causing problems or if its something else. Or maybe a combination of both.
My computer works fine when I connect it to my monitor.
I have the latest drivers installed for my video card and I cant think of how to solve the problem.

Try connecting it to both at the same time, then go into the options and make sure you've got it on the right setting, NTSC, PAL-I, PALB/G

ok, it works when I have the monitor and tv hooked up at the same time, and then switch it to the tv from windows.
but is there any way I can make it just detect the tv automatically without having the monitor connected?
My tv and computer are in different rooms and I dont want to have to take the monitor to the tv room everytime I want to hook the computer up to the tv. And I would have to get a really long cable to hook both up from where they are.
I was hoping there was a way for me to just unhook my tower from everything, and bring it to the tv room and just hook it up to the tv (and mouse and keyboard of course). I think the problem is that my computer wont automatically detect whether there is a monitor or tv hooked up to it.

thanks for the suggestions, but tvtool doesn't support my videocard because it is the geforce4 mx 440 (tv encoder type nv17).
and i already had a look at that nvidia faq, but it didnt help.
i appreciate the help though.
any other suggestions?
