I don't think tmpg will take it so your best bet is to use windows movie maker to convert the file to avi and then you can use some other program to make it mpg.

I haven't done a lot of research on this, but there is one solution that comes default w/ WinXP.
Open MovieMaker C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe
Move all the clips you want to the timeline
File | Save Movie --> change "Setting" drop-down to "Other" then change Profile to DV-AVI NTSC (25mbps)

Unfortunately, this is the only thing it will let you do! This is uncompressed MPEG-1 video, there will be no degradation of quality, but for my 16 minute file I had to do this with, it was 3.5 GB!!! :o

Other recommendations; connecto MS update w/ your machine, you should be able to d/l an update Windows MM, I think they have V2 out.

Or search google/download.com for a program that says it will do it!

P.S. Make sure you convert the MPEG-1 to something else asap if you go that route! In the end you might just settle for one of these -->
