I have a pc that that both drives are not showing up in explorer or my computer. They have always worked before. It is a compaq computer using Windows Me. Just stopped showing up one day. I can disconnect the drive and the bios will show disconnected and recognize them when I add them accept in windows. Any ideas.

Last time I came acros this it was easiest to load the cdrom drives as you would for 95....use the cdrom installaion disk...system then detected and windows took over the operation and removed the unwanted drivers

First check for the proper cabling (Pin no.1, Master/Slave settings, etc) of the CD drive. Also try removing this file (delete) from \Windows\System\Iosubsys\Udfreadr.vxd and restart the machine.

How old is your drive ? Cuz older drive needs DOS drivers, the one mentioned above by divers.
