I have been using the Matrix chip for sometime now, and all of the sudden, the xbox will not play a game anymore. The chip inside is still showing a green light, but once a game is inserted, it turns on and off a few times, and the light blinks green and red.

Anyone else have this happen all of the sudden? I assume the chip worked itself loose, and moved, or maybe my xbox is slowly dying.

Thanks for any info...

Actually, without a game in the xbox, the drive bay will not even open, it just turns on and off, so I cannot even put a game in anymore. Chip still green though.

you need to reallign the chip.
the light you are getting is a false allignment light

Got it realligned, light is green, xbox lights are normal, but no games load. Could this possibly be a problem with the chip now? All lights look okay, but no games boot. I will probably re-program it, and then try again. Not sure how the bios could have got corrupted.

For what it's worth I had this problem before and was very close to throwing the xbox at the wall!

But I found the culprit in the end. In my case it wasent the alignment, because I knew I was aligning the chip right. It was the bios and the battery.

I used an older bios (IMHO don't use D6) and a brand new battery. Don't use an older battery even if there is power in it. Buy a new one and reflash the chip with a different bios, one that's been tried and tested.
When it finished flashing the bios, I alligned the chip, screwed it down, switched the mode, turned it on and hey presto it worked.

Best of luck

Just always use a colored BIOS, then you don't have to worry about the light on the matrix. If it boots up red/blue logo. You can tighten it and close it up.
