Sorry if this has been covered already but I did look but did not find a specific answer to my question.

I already have around 75 divx movies on CDR's. Most of the movies are encoded using divx 4.12. My question is with the correct software and mod can I just pop these cd's in the drive and watch them from the dvd drive (providing the drive read's cdr's) without having to re-encode or re-burn them??
I burnt them with Easy CD creator.
I have not bought an XBOX yet and am currently using a computer hooked up to my TV to watch these movies off the DVD drive in the computer but the XBOX looks like it could do what I want but I do not want to have to re-encode or re-burn my movies and would prefer not to have to copy them to the hard drive.

Thanks for any help you can give!!!!

These can be played straight off disc providing your xbox plays cdrs (which most dont) the other Solution (which is how I do it) is to stream the movies from cd or hdd of pc onto your xbox to the tv using Relax.

If you can find an Xbox with a Samsung drive which has the following cut outs in it (o 0 o) then you can do a straight swap into your Xbox.

Just done it myself.

Do Xbox's with the Samsung drives have a certain serial or model number because it will be quite hard to buy one brand new with that drive.

If the Box is new-ish then you have a higher chance of getting one (Just got one me-self :D), but I believe that it's pot luck. Maybe there is away that someone knows of though.

The guy hasn't actually bought his XBox yet.

So you have a high chance of getting one that can read CD-R's (well thats how it works in the UK anyway).

I haven't seen any X-Box's that don't read CD-R's but apparently the one way to tell if its a Samsung is if the drive bay (the actual bit you ploace the CD onto) has two small circular holes at either side of the normal large 'U-shape' hole - then its a Samsung.

As said tho - in the UK, I have had 6 or more mates buying X-Box's recently - and every one has been Samsung and been able to read CD-R's.
I think its the older ones that are less likely to be able to read em.

Or you can just copy all the movies to CD-RWs.

Or just stream them from the PC as was mentioned before.
