Hi everyone

Just found this new forum, was looking for somewhere regarding the xbox as i've recently chipped mine, and am trying to get into the 'backup' world.

Having some mixed success atm, with the first few going well, then a few that have left me puzzled :)

Anyway, i'll be hanging around here for a while, trying to pickup some advice and sharing experience.

If anyone would be willing to spend 2-3 minutes online, there are a couple of questions that I can't find answers too, but don't want to start dumping questions here caus i know how annoying it is when the noobies arrive :)

I can be found on msn using dalehead@hotmail.com or icq using 112802447

read through the forums or search for stuff that you can't find. If you have a specific question, just post it. I am sure we can help.

xbox-scene has a lot of information as well.

Thanks guys

I'm actually having a lot of difficulty tracking down 2 apps.
GDFIMAGE and cpxmenux

I've been trying to follow the guides over at xbox-scene which is an amazing site, but without these files i'm a little stuck.

I've had some luck on some games using xiso, but DOA3 won't work.
I realise that these apps are MS code etc, and hence will be difficult to find, but know there's always a way :)

I do a lot of travel with work, and my main reason for copying is actually a genuine backup, so i don't have to take my originals on trips, and don't have to pay £9.99 for the PlayStation game in hotel rooms :)

If anyone would help me out here, much appreciated..... i think the guides cover most of my other questions.

Only other thing i'd specifically like to ask, and which has prolly been answered here before (but i can't find it) is whether or not some games are impossible to copy? Do some need patches or cracks applying like the old PSX games?

Cheers

GDFImage is the way to go for making ISOs for the XBox, I never use XISO unless it's for extracting.

If you look hard enough you can find those 2 apps you asked about. Can't tell you where - sorry :(

All games can be copied without a problem, no patches. (so far)

Well I managed to track down both apps, although GDFimage is deffo the hardest file I ever had to locate.
In the process of burning DOA3 now to test, caus the iso made with Xiso won't work.

Thanks for the feedback regarding no patches.... good to know.

Ok, I complied the ISO using the GDFimage application.
Burned it with RecordNow Max.

Disc won't play.... just hangs the system.

Could it be a bad rip? Or is there something else I should be checking?

Thx

...edit....

Just to add to this.... copying the files to my xbox HD allows the game to play without any problems....

I'm really out of ideas here :/

Ok, thanks for the help guys...

Problem solved.

Firstly I created the image with Xiso, which failed.....

I then re-created it with GDFimage and burned to DVD-RW not wanting to waste more DVD-R's
This failed.... I assumed the image was wrong, but at 4am this morning, decided to create one more coaster..... but with DVD-R and it worked, so I guess my xbox doesn't like reading the Pioneer DVD-RW that came with my 105.

Gotta try to do a multigame disc now :)
