I need to hook my XBOX up to my Sanyo LCD-projector with something better than the crappy Svideo signal from the Advanced AV-pack. But at the same time I still need the Svideo connection to my TV and optical output to my amp. I've looked at the following stuff:
*MadCats (or whatever), they have the only box (that I've found) that can output component, digital sound and regular video. Quality when hooked up to hidef monitors/tv/projoctors using component supposedly sucks, many people I've read about switched to original component cables. Which leads us to...
*Original HiDef AV-pack, this sucks because it has no regular video out, then I would have to reach back and switch to the Advanced AVpack everytime I'd like to play on my regular TV. And I have to open up 15m of cableholders that run on my walls and ceiling to put a component cable in. And since I have a Pal box I have to use the videoselector or patch my apps to get 480p.
*The Sagestar/Redant VGAbox. Not true 480p, just scan conversion, but will hopefully be better than Svideo. This has according to Lik-Sang: VGA passthrough (needed since I have a PC that needs to be hooked up also), and MultiAV passtrough, which would make it possible to connect the Advanced AVpack at the same time, and get 5.1 and Svideo out. But som posts from the Lik-Sang FAQ makes me wonder about 5.1 passtrough to Advanced AVpack, especially the last post:
---
*To get 5.1 sound, it is possible to put the regular digital I/O cable into the pass-through socket of the Xbox VGA box?
*Yes you should connect it to the av multi out.
---
* When having the Advance AV Pack connected to the AV out will the picture display on both the Monitor and S-Video or does one take priority over the other?
*It will display on both monitors.
---
*Can u tell me what cable i will need to purchase to enable s-video and Dolby digital via the a/v multi out. i see there is the offical xbox advanced AV scart but u cannot plug that into the vga box.
*When using the av box, you cannot use the dolby output, this is only with the advanced scart pack. (2002-12-04)
---
*Other AV-packs, no VGA passtrough (not that crucial since I could use a VGA switch), no video/svideo, expensive
So, questions...
*Anyone using the Sagestar/RedAnt VGAbox? Pic quality? MultiAV passtrough to Advanced AVpack or other 5.1 output, does it work? That means VGA output from the VGAbox, and 5.1 sound output from the advanced av-pack at the same time.
*Anything else that can match my criterias? Preferably VGA out so that I don't need to run component cables. Svideo, or atleast video out and 5.1 spdif out
Holy Cr*p, it became a bit longer than planned
