alrite i just installed a Enigmah chip for my friend and he has a phillip drive in his xbox when i try to boot dvdr backups 1 out of 9 works and the other ones just boots to the ms screen and then back to the dashboard. is it my dvdr media or something, because all my cdrw works but it take for ever to boot. so can someone tell me what dvdr media to use or soemthing or i did something wrong on the installations.

Could be a combo of the two what kind of dvd media are you using as the phillips dvd drive is very picky about it's media. Mine is somewhat picky with Princos apparently you have to eject the dvd drive and turn it off and then turn it on an then put the disc in and close the drive to get it to read each time. Sometimes it will work without doing this though. I am going to try burning the backup to Ritek (when they get here next week) and fujifilm and see if either of those brands work as they are among the best. I'll let you know.

im using ritek media and only 1 out of 9 works that the only media i have rite now so is there a media out there that works all the time with phillip dvddrive. this is my friend xbox i got myself a v1.1 samsung it reads everything. it just the phillip v1.0 xbox giving me problems.

I haven't tried it for games yet but my fujifilm DVD-R movies work great in my V1.0 Phillips xbox. Thanks for the heads up on the Riteks (though when it comes down to it each drive in and of itself is different) so I know that they won't necessarily be foolproof.

Hey, i got the phillps dvd drive also, but my systems a v.1.1. Anyway ritek media gave me hell. Also try a different brand, i use fugi. A bonus of the phillps is it plays cdrs, but for some reason it refuses to read Memorex, and cdrw's. TDK work good for me

I have tested 3 xboxs lately-A v1.0, and 2 v1.1's. 2 have thompson drives, one philips(one of the v1.1 has philips).The philips drive is really alot more picky than the thompson.It hates princos, but Riteks however have been working perfect for me on the new xbox(w/philips).I have also heard from others that the riteks are much better than princos, but every Xbox has its own "personality".Maybe the riteks you got were burned at more than 1x or are dirty?

For Tsom111 what Version is your XBOX V1.0 or V1.1? as I am planning on using fuji as well.

just my 2 cents i have a pioneer ao4 and i have been using two types of dvd media with 100% results the first brand is (Accu) and the other is (princo) i have made all my backups using xiso and then burned using both of these brands of media and the result is that i have never had a bad burn or disk that wouldnt boot and i also have the Enigmah chip i think the key may be to stick with what media works best for you on a consistant basis dont switch back and forth. i realy suggest you try either of the above mentioned media and you shouldnt have any problems....oh one more thing i use alcohol 128% for yous that dont know that is a very good burning software do a search in google for it or use kazza. if you need more help you can reach me on aol IM as cddvdmediaworld thats my screen name.:tup:
