View Full Version : Instant Copy - Strange Problem

OK, here's my weird situation. Last night I copied the film Windtalkers using Pinnacle Instant Copy 7. I followed Baldrick's (VCDHelp.com) tutorial, used DVD Decrypter in file mode etc, etc. I kept most of the extras but lowered the quality to apox 50%. I only kept the English sound and deselected ALL subtitles.

OK, so now it transcodes in IC7. Get's to the end then I burn the .PDI image using IC7 also. Here are the strange problems I'm getting:-

1) The film just cannot be played using a LiteOn 166S & Win DVD 4.5 yet plays back fine on Win DVD & Pioneer A05.

2) Even though I did not select any subs they are on throughout the whole damn film and my DVD Player gives me no option to turn them off.

3) If I access the main film from chapter selection then for most of the time the subs do not show! But sometimes (in random locations I think) they start showing up again.

4) All the extras show the subs and the quality is quite glitchy.

Can anyone help with this?

TIA :)

i dont no what the problem is but i've started reading up on Pinnacle Instant Copy and there seems to be quite a few bugs in it still.
it seems to work ok for sum people and not for others. i've seen at least 25 posts over the last few days at verious places and there all problem posts. it mite be good but it still needs a lot of work to get it bug free.

I've just re-done the whole fil m with DVD Decrypter/DVD2one & Stomp RNM (No chapters/extras of course) and IMHO the picture is perfect, no subs all the way through and have checked it on several PC's & DVD player and it plays el perfecto throughout on ALL.

For all films 2 hrs ish and under this is the soft for me! OK IC 7 has a number of nice features I grant you, but as you say trebor it seems to have more bugs than you can shake a stick at! and I'm using the full V7.0.0.91 which is supposed to be minus all the major bugs.

Each to their own I guess...

Be interesting to see what results are possible if a decent freeware opensource MPEG2 transcoder is ever completed. I guess it would at least have quality/speed settings.

Too true m8, when you consider how many of the really great video editing softs are free and the fantastic results they achieve this would be a real gem.

OK, if we get that and a hacked firmware for the A05 then I'm one happy bunny!
