Without having to download it ,is it possible to obtain a cd with win 2000 service pack 3 on.I did for win xp (sp1) but my mate needs a win2000 version.

You can if you are in the US or Canada. SP3 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp3/ordercd.asp)
Cheaper to try and find a magazine cover disk that has it though.

I purchased this months issue of Personel Computer World (PCW) in the UK specifically for the Win 2K SP3, but it turned out not to be on there, a screw up in the manufacture I guess.

As Richskie says, this is the best option, just don't buy the latest PCW, it says it's on the disk but it isn't.

If you do find a cheap mag with it on I would be interested to know, assuming your in the UK of course.
