hi,

i have just encoded a divx movie with tempgen

well its too over 10 hours to encode,

well its now a m2v file, i have just tested it with media player and noticed 2 things,

1, no sound
2, picture jerky (like slow motion) as its playing

is it suppost to be like this ?????

1. Probably because it used VBR mp3 audio. No problem.. just encode the audio to PCM/mp2/ac3 seperatly.

2. Poor motion, check your input/output framerates.

If you have an m2v file it means that you have no audio. If you had audio the file would be an mpg file. The audio file would be an mpa file. An mpg file is really an m2v file mixed (muxed) with an mpa file. Probably the best way to encode the film is to strip the audio from the divx file so that you have a wav audio file. Load the divx file into the video selection part of tmpg and the wav file into the audio section. You will need virualdub (which is freeware) to strip the audio file. Instructions on how to do this are at VCDHelp.com. You can also download virualdub from the tools section of that webpage. One last thing, make sure you choose non interlace for the encode mode in tmpg. Interlace will cause your film to jerk and stutter.
