you could try using wine (emu to run windows apps in linux not the drink)but I doubt it will work.

What have you got a RPM or tar ball?

You might even already have it installed it runs in the baxckground with no actual signs icons etc that it is running without viewing your processes that are.

Go to /mnt/win and click on a windows app if it runs youve got it installed.

You may need to edit the wine.conf file to get it to run though.

P.S
Ive tried it with half life and it worked so it should play some windows games.

I have RPM. I log on as 'root' then I try to install that package and it says it needs such and such library, but when I find the library that it needs i download that package then when I install that package it says I need another library. So is there a rpm package that has all of the libraries provided or do i need to dowload each one separate.

btw. Im using mandrake linux 9.0 if that helps any.

Have you got the full distro or just the install disk?

If you have the full distro there all on the cd's or atr least most of them most likely disk 2, and you can install them all from softdrake or whatever its called.

Otherwise you will have to download them all unfortunately and install them seperately.

Thats the beauty of FreeBSD, practically the same as Linux but has a 'ports' collection of thousands of software apps. If you install one (by typing make install) it will install all the other library/apps it requires.

I guess there is some sort of Mandrakesoft app which can do the same if you search.

You can do something similar like TheCaptain2K1 said. Just put the application you want to install in a folder. Then open a konsole, then log on as "root" browse to the folder where you put the file you want to install, then type: urpmi (the name of the application), for example:

I want to install cookbook, so I type:

urpmi cookbook

or If you have only one file in the folder you can type:

urpmi*

And wait untill it fetches the package info, asks you if you want to install the dependencies (SAY YES) , downloads and installs the packages.

Here is a webpage that explains more than what I just said:

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/urpmi.php3

Hope it helps

Just remembered if you enter drakesoft and go to mandrake update you can get them all via ftp and then install them all at once.

I finally got wine to work somewhat. Uk-trader how did you get half-life to work. I'm trying to get the sims, everquest to work but all i get is this message:: mcop warning:user defined singal handler found for SIG_PIPE, overriding /tmp/mcop~dana is not owned by user.

Any else get this?

A lot of games are actually released for Linux...I saw Jedi Outcast or whatever it's called at a store yesterday, and there was a big old Penguin logo on it. "LINUX Compatible"
