Whem I'm at college I can get MSN Messenger to work by typing these into the settings:

HTTP Proxy
Server: proxy
Port: 8080

Now having got MSN Messenger sorted, how can I use these settings with mIRC in order for that to work?

Will I have to do the same thing and type the same things into mIRC and it should connect, or is there a different way of doing it for mIRC?

that proxy is an HTTP proxy, and i don't think that that's a proper address for it, to work mIRC you'll need either a SOCKS4/5 port to use, this is normally port 1080. So if it's open you need the proxy server's name and then type in port 1080. There's software to test whether these ports are open but i can't remember the name! HTH
