hi does it really matter if the IDE cable is ata100 or 133? I just upgraded my cables to rounded 133s and it nocked about 20seconds of xps boot time. im guessing it does make a diffrence

No, it makes no difference at all.
They all use the same type of cable (80-conductor/40-pin).

It's compatible with all ata66/100/133 devices.

so therers no diffrence in speed between 66/100/133?

There IS a difference in speed, but it has nothing to do with the cable.

Perhaps you were using regular ata33 cables (with 40 wires) before. That's why you're getting the huge speed increase.

I am bit confused here.
This site is selling 100ATA & 133 ATA the 133 is on order 90 days but there is loads of the 100's.
So what is the difference then?

Non of the other sites list differnt cables, they all seem to sell the same cable for 100/133.

I don't believe it's the cable making it faster, unless as gambit_360 stated, you were using standard ATA33 cables.
