I wanted to know if this product on this website is real and works as they say.

http://www.ps2cover.com/

Also they say that Modded PS2's no longer work online. I have Messiah installed on my PS2. It's been a little while since I have been online. Will my system not work online anymore?

Yeah the fliptop is real. As far as I know only certain games are detecting the modchips, I believe Everquest online adventures is one.

This is not true this aint no x-box they ban the hard drive on the x-box we dont use them as of yet. Microsoft is in charge of all their servers and its fee basesd for all games after this year.

Ps2 will only be fee based for certain games and sony does not control all the servers like microsoft.

The everquest beta presented a problem but all other games made so far will work

The just want to sell flip tops to everybody not a bad product though but I think it would be better if they took that design off the lid ;)

Also:

Well I dont think its ever been discussed much really but I dont see any reason why a no solder mod and magic swap disk wouldnt work with a messiah 2 (since you can boot dvd orginals after you disable the chip)

Hypothectical procedure

1. insert magic swap dvd and hold down reset for 4 Seconds after blue light comes on

2. When magic swap disk says insert game hold down eject button for 4 seconds then swap

This should allow you boot boot an online game with the messiah 2 chip off this should also work with a magic 3.1 or you could put a switch on a magic 2 or 3 that would work also

Only thing is that they can dectect the copied games easier than detecting the modchips they could just tell the server to ask the game for the scea signal and since copies can not produce this signal they could just stop you from playing the game

But someone will probably make a magic 5 or messiah 7 that will shut of after booting the game and send the appropriate response whenver the server would ask for this scex signal and we will all laugh and say how lame the magic 3.1, messiah 2 and DMS3 chip all were. :)

flip-top covers are real, but recently they are getting a boycott, from few websites, for stealing copyrighted material, and bad service.

actually everquest is presenting problems for mod chip users, im chipped with an apple and i downloaded the update(3/26/03) for EQAO and low and behold DNAS error. i called $ony and they told i was the first with this problem and error 402 means bootleg disk, even though its real im assuming it has something to do with the bios or whatever the apple did cuz now im ****ed and cant play so im supposed to get a call from a SENIOR TECH ADVISOR, woohoo

i hope its just the sony DNAS server....cuz id pissed if not

That's BS. Those guys say that so they can sell those crappy flip tops. The new generation of mods can be disabled and as long as you use an original disc, you can play online just fine.

Fliptops

That's true Sony has implemented DNAS, its a dedicated server that you log into before getting access the EQOA server here's their DNAS server IP for those of you that have firewalls that you may need to create a tunnel for...... 202.213.243.168 gate1.us.dnas.playstation.org.

This is gonna be a real problem for guys with modded PS2's that can't disable them before going online

i hope its just the sony DNAS server....cuz id pissed if not The game is not Mod protected. The game is protected from users that are using burned versions of the game and users that are using the same serial # from the original, or so I heard. Each game has its own SN and that particular SN can only be registered once. If anyone tries to register the same SN, that person can't log in...

Thats one of the security features of them using DNAS, after logging in to the EQOA server last night, I was prompted to restart the service so that the new patch they just implemented could take effect...well I rebooted my PS2 and got error 402- unauthorized device or something to that effect I was prompted to call the tech support#. My system is modded .....I just held the reset button until the game booted and I was able to login to EQ server, so I'm pretty sure it has ability to detect the bios for machine information, which is how a chip is detected, the game itself is not mod protected but the dedicated DNAS server is
