View Full Version : help ps2 plays dvds in black and white ??????????

hi there please could some 1 help me i have bought several dvds like 8 mile, lilo and stitch, chigago,under cover brother etc from here of several different people

they all play perfict in my pc dvd player and on my standalone player technics sldv250 player

the media is dvd-r plus i have backed them up on dvd+r and dvd+rw and they all work fine on these players

BUT THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS WHEN I PUT THEM IN A XBOX NOTHING HAPPENS AND WHEN THEY GO IN PS2 THEY PLAY BUT IN BLACK AND WHITE PLUS I TRIED 1 IN MY FREINDS PLAYER WHICH IS A SONY STANDALONE PLAYER NOT SHAW WHICH ONE BUT ITS A LITTLE ROUND 1 THEY PLAY IN BLACK AND WHITE TO CAN SOME 1 PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS .

Sounds like they are NTSC.

As far as the ps2 goes do you have a full rgb-dvd lead as opposed the rgb only lead (the main lead from your ps2 to your telly) if it is a full lead it will have a small switch on it set to dvd this will be ok for games also you can check if the films are ntsc or pal using ifo edit .basically the difference is simply the formatt/resolution- UK-uses pal - USA-ntsc

If the dvd plays in black and white then it is NTSC and you will need to use DVD Region X and a Fully Loaded RGB Scart Cable to make the films play in colour, either that or get the Force PAL modification done.

Also, you do know that to play dvds on the xbox you need the dvd playback kit dont you.
