riteks

they don't appear on compatibility lists for this drive, but they work.

I agree that Riteks are probably the best - format media out there. Highly compatible with all sorts of stand alone dvd players.

hi ya, just got one of these drives,

tried some Aladin General Purpose and got them to write well at 1X

Just got hold of some Choice media (meant to burn at 2X, but i can only get 1X out of it at present, may be the software im using)

From what i can see so far, its a nice little drive, very quite and read speeds have been impressive

Hope this helps

It's not a question of the dvd burner reading the media it is a question of how your standalone dvd player is able to read the media. Generally speaking the cheapest peice of crap media will read and burn in a dvd burner but whether or not it will actually work outside the computer is another question. A fair number of people are using cheaper branded media and getting it to work just fine but for me I will sacrifice some extra money to get quality media that works in even the pickiest dvd player.

Thanks for the advice.
I have a Mico Sofia standalone DVD Player and so far have tried a number of media and so far everything Ive thrown at it works.

go with what works for you, but for what its worth I have this drive and have had great success using Ritek G03, (which will burn @ 2x) and white top princo 1x. I use primarily dvd decrypter and have burned 1000s odf discs with very little trouble.
